Viewer Shock for BBC the Voice UK!

The Voice UK has returned to British screens last Saturday night with a viewing audience of 6.24 million. But, the show was missing 2 million viewers from last series which caused shock for the BBC. The show has been described as the flagship of the BBC. However, the 2 million viewer loss may be caused by Saturday nights ITV rival Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway grabbing a massive 7 million viewers on the same night.

The BBC in the past have been criticised for spending £22 million of the BBC’s licence fee money to purchase the shows format from John De Mol, the Dutch TV mogul who also created Big Brother. Despite the shows successful start last year The Voice UK’s viewers drifted away from the show after the show moved to the final rounds.

I myself watch the last series and found that the show lacked drama and was very boring to watch when the show hit the final rounds. In fact me and 6 others interviewed today had no idea who the winner of last year’s show was. That is because the winner has not done anything since winning the show.

In my opinion the start of the show was the best bit with the contestants being chosen because of their voice not there aperients. I believe The Voice was successful last year because it was new and un-like Simon Cowell’s X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent shows. It would be interesting to see if the BBC will make any alterations to the show as this new series progresses.
